"Erik Agduhr together with the anatomists Dr. Kolmer were the first to describe a new class of neurons in the Xenopus spinal cord. The Kolmer-Agduhr cells contain GABA-like immunoreactivity, have long ascending axons and are located in the ventral spinal cord. They contact the cerebrospinal fluid contacting by inserting microvilli and cilia into fluid filled spaces. Their function is not certain but Agduhr and Kolmer themselves suggested a sensory role, which still is the best guess"(www.neuro.uu.se).
