| First separate editionof Mechnikov's remarks on soured milk, originally published in Revue Scientifique, 2, p. 103. "Mechnikov's theory regarding the effect of lactic acid on bacteria"(G-M). Translated as Scientifically soured milk; its influence in arresting intestinal putrefaction and its action in the treatment of diseases caused by auto-intoxication (Paris 1907). In 1908, together with Paul Ehrlich, Mechnikov was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine "in recognition of his work on immunity". |
