"The aim of the book was to enlighten people regarding scientific medicine and thus to diminish the influence of quacks. Ancient tradition in matters of health and hygiene, belief in medical charlatans who were much in demand, and the use of folk remedies was current and caused much suffering"(Arvid Wallgren).
