 Originally published in 1928, this is the second edition in Swedish of Johannes Østrup's translation of Alf laylah wa laylah (Arabian Nights Entertainments, or The Thousand and One Nights).
Translated from the Arabic into Danish by J. Østrup, and from the Danish into Swedish by Torsten Wennström.
Illustrations by Gudmund Hentze.
The tales derives from Indian, Persian, and Arabic sources. According to Sir Richard Burton, the earliest stories date back to the 8th century and the latest from the 16th century.
