First edition. With a preface by Gustaf Retzius [1842-1919]. Edited by Carl Gustaf Santesson [1862-1939]. This posthumous work of von Dûben consists of 22 large printed plates of Lapp crania, possibly printed in the 1870s (cf. Retzius' preface, p. 3), being lithographic outline drawings, executed with the Lucæ' craniograph, some slight shading being added, the entire surface of the cranium being of a yellowish tinge. Two tables of measurements taken off the Lapp crania are reprinted in the textvolume,  together with a translation from the Swedish of chapter 7 (pp. 166-78) in von Düben's Om Lappland och Lapparne (Stockholm 1873), entitled Physical Characteristics of the Lapps.
